On Feb 12, Jared Nielson, Andranik Miribyan and Mkhitar Mkhitaryan went to the project - the fourth pitch WI 4 of the cascade ice falls in Arpa gorge, Armenia.
Jared and Sean Walker had been there some weeks ago, and they only did climb the first 3 cascades - R1-10m (WI 2), R2-30m (WI 4+), R3-15m (WI 3). The 4th pitch is an icicle, located in a gully, providing you a very fun climbing. If your choice is to climb just the last two pitches, there is a very short approach from mine road leading to resort town Jermuk. All you need is just couple of rappels by the equipped anchors.

When Sam Bie emailed me about their wish to visit Armenia with Alex Chabot and establish new routes on basalt columns then I realized that the rock climbing is going to rise on the new level in Armenia.

Ok, now I’m happy with a sustainable climbing partner Jared Nielson, a Big Wall climber from California.
Third year in a row traveling to the American West from the other side of the world for rock climbing, expectations and the outcome.
It is hard to stop going to Indian Creek and Yosemite once you have experienced that already. There are so many climbs to do and the local climbing culture itself makes you feel like you will be missing something if not to go these places even once in a season.

On the beginning of August, 2007 our Armenian friends from Iran Sourik Stepanian and Araik Jahanian came to Yerevan to set off for Georgia, to climb up Mt Kazbek (5033m) with ‘Spitak’ rescue team members.

Here is the second part of the project “Rock Us in the Caucasus 2015”, which was held in Chaukhi mountains and Mt. Kazbeg in Georgia.

On March 17-24, the program of heli-skiing in Armenia runs with sunny weather and good snow.
Like in the Alps and Caucasus, the snow conditions were poor in Armenia as well during past winter months. In Aspen though, where I spent skiing and teaching for the ski school there, it was a decent early season and very good snow throughout the season. Then came the long awaited March to guide for ski touring in Armenia.
