A Multi-Pitch Climbing Course

We have launched the first Single-Pitch and Multi-Pitch Climbing Course in partnership with VER VAR climbing gym, combining theoretical and practical training in Yerevan, with an assessment conducted in Noravank Canyon.

The Armenian Mountaineering and Skiing National School (AMSNS) has designed this course for beginner climbers, as well as experienced gym climbers who want to continue their climbing journey outdoors. The aim is to help participants make a safe and confident transition from the climbing gym to natural rock and, ultimately, to multi-pitch climbing.

Throughout the course, participants learn and practice the fundamental skills needed for climbing on the rocks, including rope management, knots and hitches, belaying, building and cleaning anchors, rappelling, climbing communication, and climbing a multi-pitch route as a party of three.

The course is not simply about learning individual techniques. It is about understanding how the entire climbing system works and developing the ability to make appropriate decisions while climbing outdoors.

The final part of the program took place in the spectacular surroundings of Noravank Canyon, where participants had the opportunity to put their knowledge and practical skills into practice on real rock. The assessment evaluated their ability to apply the techniques learned during the course, communicate effectively, manage the rope and climbing systems, and climb safely as part of a team.

AMSNS will continue offering this course until the end of the 2026 climbing season in November, while also launching new specialized courses such as Rock Climbing Performance, Trad Climbing, Alpine Climbing, Glacier and Ice Climbing, and Improvised Rescue for this and upcoming seasons.

Starting this winter season, AMSNS will also introduce Backcountry Skiing, Alpine Skiing Performance, and Avalanche Skills Training courses, expanding the school's educational programs beyond rock climbing and into winter mountain activities.
