The Armenian Mountaineering and Skiing National School was born as a result of the transformation of Up The Rocks club, on October 1st, 2024. The School's umbrella organization is the Armenian Alpine Club SNGO.
Our goal is to organize climbing and skiing theoretical and practical classes for everyone who desires to learn, yet the main activity of the School will be talking to our audience through climbing and skiing action films, performed by our core team. AMSNS action films are going to be educational, reflecting our behavior in the mountains, our attitude to the wild nature and the philosophy of our sports.
Our vision is to inspire the Armenian youth to follow our path, go beyond where we reached, and form the generation of high performance athletes of Armenia.
Our mission is to create a fertile soil for professionals, so they could be paid as full-time athletes and artists, performing on the mountains of Armenian Highlands.
We named the line "The Awake Path". It's the celebrating project for the birth of the ՀԼԼԱԴ/AMSNS on Mt Khoustoup's NE wall, Khoustoup National Reserve, Syunik province, Armenia. That sector of the wall had never been explored, or known to anyone. "The Awake Path" is going to be 430+ meters, 15 pitch high-quality alpine sport climbing route on a blue limestone. The crux pitches are supposed to be around 7c+/5.13a.
The line requires at least three more days of work on the wall, for cleaning the loose rocks, bolting the belay anchors and all the intermediate protection gear. Overall we need to use around 150 more bolts and hangers.
Mt Khoustoup's NE wall has seen 7 different First Ascents by our fathers from Yerevan Physics Institute Alpine Club and "Spitak" Rescue Center. However the hardest climb on the wall so far has been the First Ascent of Vladimir Belousov and Mkhitar Mkhitaryan, done on 2013 by the NE bastion, named "Zangezour" 600m, 15 pitch trad Clean-Climb, rated as 6b+/5.10d max. Not repeated.
