On July 1, club Up The Rocks kicked off “Arev” Armenian First Ascent Festival. The guest participants at that point were from Iran (Qazvin) and Russia.

We started by the 25m high basalt crag (1,5 km to the north-east of Davidashen bridge) in Hrazdan gorge, Yerevan.

Hossein Roshanmanesh and Mostafa Saghaf did FA of “Qazvin firefighters”, 40m, R1 - 5.10a(20m, 7 small cams, 3 pitons, natural anchor), R2 – 5.10d(20m, 6 small size cams, 1 piton, 2 natural protection, natural anchor).

Vadik Sirekanyan from Miass, Russia, did the FA of the boulder problem “Blood test” V6, 13 hand moves. It's a pity we couldn’t take photos because it was already in the dark. The crux part is a dyno move from the overhanging position - tiny fingertip pockets for both hands and tiny friction footholds.

Tomorrow at noon the climbers will move to the Noravank canyon for a 10 days climb.
